The “Slunce“ Aquatics Centre (The Sun)

The “Slunce“ (The Sun) aquatics centre in Rýmařov belongs to the “Slunce“ Hotel and is accessible to the public –local inhabitants, as well as hotel visitors and guests spending their holiday in Rýmařov or the Jeseníky region – that is, to all those who take pleasure in water-based activities and relaxation. The indoor swimming pool in Břidličná was built in the year 1975. In 2004 the engine room was refurbished and the building was insulated. The swimming pool is located at the outskirts of Břidličná, approximately 800 m far from the centre. It is a 25-metre pool and a paddling pool with a “mushroom” for small children. The Rehabilitation Centre and Salt Cave in Karlova Studánka

The new rehabilitation swimming pool in Karlova Studánka was opened in the year 2007. The pool contains salty water and it belongs to the state-owned therapeutic spa complex in Karlova Studánka. Next to the pool there is a less usual attraction, a tepidarium allowing relaxation in dry and wet heat, as well as a Finish sauna. Also of interest are the facilities for cooling the body down after heating.  Besides the spa procedures (baths, massages, peat wrap), there is also the new. Vakuwell and Vibrosauna wellness equipment that makes the transfer to the salt cave very pleasant; the latter give space for relaxation and quiet meditation. Bruntál Wellness Centre

Bruntál Wellness Centre is not a classic swimming area. The swimming pools contains salty water, which has antiseptic effects. The water in the pool does not burn the eyes, while the swimmer has the pleasant feeling of lightness. You can enjoy a 25-metre long six-lane swimming pool, a pool for relaxation with a number of massage facilities, whirlpools, a teaching pool, and wild river swimming. Courageous visitors can start on a hundred-meter covered waterslide. The aromatic steam sauna is an indispensable part of the centre. Brans Hotel Wellness Centre

The hotel is located in the village of Malá Moravice, at the very heart of the Jeseníky Mountains, at the foot of the “Praděd” Mountain, 3 km from Karlova Studánka, not far from Bruntál and Rýmařov. Rýmařov – the Edrovice Pond 

It is possible to bathe in the pleasant surroundings at the outskirts of the town, approximately 750 m from Náměstí Míru – Peace Square (Sokolovská Street) in Rýmařov. The pond is in a grassy area, with a gentle slope leading into the water. Tourists can have walking or cycling tours in the surrounding area.  There is not a great variety of services at the place (a playground, a slide, toilets, a refreshment kiosk), but they are sufficient for the visitors whose priority is to bathe in the countryside environment.

The Tvrdkov Water Reservoir

The bathing area is in the pleasant surroundings of the Tvrdkov stream valley, approximately 750 m far from the Tvrdkov village. The grassy area around the reservoir has a surface of 150 x 50 m and a gentle slope leads into the water. There are no facilities around this reservoir. Tourists can walk, fish or cycle in the surroundings.

 The Slezská Harta Water Reservoir

This reservoir on the river Moravice has a surface of 923 hectares. It is a region suitable for recreational activities and fishing, as well as bathing. Tourists enjoy cycling in its surroundings. The reservoir is accessible from the villages of Nová Pláň, Leskovec, Razová, and Roudno. There are various catering and accommodation possibilities.

 The Water Reservoir in Nová Ves (in the village of Dolní Moravice)

This water reservoir is suitable for bathing and fishing. It was built in the year 1996, at the south-eastern outskirts of the village Nová Ves (administratively belonging to the village of Dolní Moravice), close to the confluence of two brooks which spring not far from this place and which feed the Moravice stream.

The Swimming Pool in the Town of Bruntál

The swimming pool is located in the middle of a park in the centre of the town. It has a surface of 33 x 15 m and it is 1.9 m deep; the paddling pool for children is 15 x 15 m. There are facilities to play volleyball and other ball games on the playground.  For the children there is a sandpit, slides, crawl tunnels, and water slides. There is also a restaurant. The Thermal Pool in Velké Losiny

This is located in the spa park area in Velké Losiny. The pool is fed by the Žerotín hot spring (natural healing thermal sulphur water with increased content of hydrogen sulphide, hydrosulphide, thiosulphates and fluorides), with a temperature of 32 - 36°C. In the area there are two pools – one is 40 m long and 20 m wide, the second one is a round paddling pool for children with the diameter of 9 m. Phone no.: +420 583 394 444. The Multipurpose Sports Facilities in Rýmařov

A children’s sports ground has been built in the Hedva park in Rýmařov, in the area of today’s grove. The land was found suitable due to its sloping terrain and its vegetation: terraces have been cut into the slope and a place of rest built. The equipment is grouped according to the various ages for which it is intended. The dominant feature in the central part of the sports ground is the climbing wall (the so-called bouldering).

A multipurpose playground was built next to the grassy bank by the Edrovice pond. It is surrounded by groups of birch trees and is situated at the foot of the slope on which terraces for wooden (or stone) seats are to be built. The playground is fenced and locked up; you can book it and borrow the keys in the Information Centre in Rýmařov. Sports and Relaxation Grounds in Horní Město

This comprises a multipurpose and children’s playground, a beach volleyball court, a children’s and youth playground, including a “Robinson Crusoe’s ground” and a skateboard area. By the emergency car park there are changing rooms and a social area for sports people and the general public, as well as an area for social events. The “Relaxa” Resort in Žďárský Potok (část obce Stará Ves)

The non-profit organisation STAN – Special Team for Adventure in Nature, originally founded in the Vysočina Region, has extended its activities to the Jeseníky Mountains by setting up an outdoor centre in the newly refurbished RELAXA resort in Stará Ves. A high-altitude climbing centre, a bungee-trampoline, and two climbing walls, 7 and 13 m high respectively, have been built. It is also possible to play paintball and airsoft, as well as practice archery and airgun shooting. There are also two asphalt pitches for football or soft tennis, as well as a beach volleyball court. Inline and Cycle Track in Karlov pod Pradědem

This track can be used all around the year; in the summer for cycling, inline skating, skateboarding, and walking, as well as training on outdoor fitness equipment; in the winter for cross-country skiing on a regularly maintained cross-country ski trail. The Rabštejn Castle Ruins (803 m n. m.)

The Rabštejn rock area is located in the southern protrusion of the “Hrubý Jeseník” (High Jeseníky Mountain) range, 16 kilometres west of Rýmařov. There are two 20-35 metre high fortress walls of metadiabase rock; for climbers they represent two main groups of towers: “Přední skály” (the Front Rocks) and “Zadní skály” (the Back Rocks). “Dolní skály” (the Lower Rocks) are of less importance for climbers. The terrain allows up to 180 climbing routes, mostly with climbing grade 3 to 6 UIAAs, but also 7 and 8, and two routes with climbing grade 9. On the meadow below the rocks there is a public camp and also a restaurant on site.

 

The Dobřečov Rocks (770 m n. m.)

Close to the village of Dobřečov – administratively belonging to Horní Město – there are approximately 10 metre high isolated phyllonite rock formations that are used as a natural climbing wall. The rocks are on private land, access to them is free of charge and the principles of decent and respectful behaviour are requested of all visitors. The rocks are accessible on foot, on the asphalt field road that leads from the church in Dobřečov (where it is possible to park the car) towards the Ferdinandov hamlet; after approx. 50 metres, at a slight bend in the road, turn left on the field road leading towards the wood surrounding the rocks.

The possibilities to provide water sports have significantly improved after the building of the Slezská Harta equalizing reservoir on the Moravice river. The large water surface with clean water, surrounded by countryside that has been very little affected by civilisation, attracts those who love fishing, bathing, and, especially, water sailing and other similar sports.

Yachting and Boat Rentals at Slezská Harta

Slezská Harta is one of the water reservoirs that offer the best conditions for yachting in the Czech Republic. In the year 2003, in the bay of the Slezská Harta reservoir, not far from the Nová Pláň village, the first sailing boat service – Yachtsport – was opened, offering also sailing courses for beginners and advanced yachtsmen. Diving

In the village of Svobodné Heřmanice, in one of the former major centres for mining roofing slate, there is a flooded quarry, which is the favourite destination for divers from all around the Czech Republic, but also from neighbouring Poland. The quarry is visible from a long distance, since it is located approximately 450 m above the sea level; it is approx. 500 m long, 50-70 m wide, and 37 m deep and access is directly into deep water; in the year 2007 a steel pier was built for open-water swimming, divers, and other holiday makers.

The Mountain Spa in Karlova Studánka

The state owned treatment spa in Karlova Studánka is located at an altitude of 800 m above the sea level, in the valley of the Bílá Opava river, whose source is on the eastern slopes of the Praděd Mountain. This area is well known as a spa and a mountain recreation centre. The village is located in the centre of wooded land having a surface of over 1000 square metres, part of which belongs to the nature reserve on the Praděd Mountain. Due to this location and, also, to the fact that there are no major sources of pollution nearby, this mountain spa has been proclaimed the place with the cleanest air in Central Europe. The foundation of the spa in Karlova Studánka is due to the healing mineral springs found here. The resort offers excellent year-round conditions for recreation, hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing and downhill skiing (including evening skiing). In winter, there are regular buses connecting Karlova Studánka to other well-known resorts in the Jeseníky Mountains. The Priessnitz Spa in Jeseník

The Priessnitz spa is situated in a picturesque location on the slope of the “Studniční vrch” Mountain, at an altitude of approx. 620 m above sea level. The Priessnitz spa is the dominant feature in the surrounding area; however, its setting has been planned to harmonise with the landscape. The spa has exceptionally favourable climatic conditions and allows guests to be treated in all the seasons of the year. There is also the possibility of a short-term spa programme, designed to increase physical and mental fitness. The spa owes its existence and, later, its fame to Vincenz Priessnitz, who, in the year 1822, founded the first known hydrotherapeutic facilities on the Gräfenberg Mountain in Silesia. In the vicinity, especially on the slopes of the “Studniční vrch” Mountain, there are 80 registered and named springs. At present, the Priessnitz Spa has more than 20,000 guests a year. The Velké Losiny Spa

The Velké Losiny spa is the oldest spa in Moravia (the earliest reference dates back to 1296), while the first spa building was constructed in the year 1592). It was founded at the site of hydrogen sulphide thermal springs (the temperature of the Žerotínský spring is 36.2°). The natural environment in the foothills of Hrubý Jeseník (the High Jeseníky Mountains) contributes to the healing effects of the treatment provided in the spa, offering wide possibilities of leisure – cultural and social – activities.
