Museum

The museum was founded in 1901 by local businessman and city Wilhelm Ludwig. In the years 1992 - 2001 were gradually each exposure, including exposure and filial located in Building 1 School. The Fund currently draws from donations, collections and museum purchases. Display items that were part of our original collections are now very rare - there are more again return or at least loaned exhibits.

The museum offers four exposures overview of the historical development Rýmařov, the history of the mining and textile industries (can not forget the unique collection of silk brocades) and the geology of the southern Jesenicka. It comprises the external freely available geological exposure in Hrádek. The museum is also Octopus Gallery.

Library

The Rýmařov Municipal museum and Information centre operate also a library. The reader will find around 3000 books here including regional, historical and cultural literature, books about natural sciences and others. In addition to monographic publications it is possible to find here also various anthologies or periodicals related the most often to our region. In 2012 we opened a new section of German literature which contains mainly classical literature from the second half of the 19th century and first half of the 20th century.  This collection includes around 800 books.

 

Advance ticket sale

At the tourist centre you can buy tickets in advance, including tickets for concerts, theatre performances balls etc. organized in Rýmařov and its surroundings.

The Information centre (together with the museum) is to be found at the main square in Rýmařov (nám. Míru 6).

If you arrive by car - in direction from Uničov and Šternberk continue straight ahead after you enter the town. Take the street "třída Hrdinů" which will lead you to the square. In direction from Bruntál turn left from Opavská street (in direction from Šumperk turn right) to Revoluční street. At the end of Revoluční street turn right to the street "třída Hrdinů" which will lead you to the square.

If you arrive by bus - the bus station is located close to the square, you will only have to go up a small hill.
If you arrive by train - follow the green tourist sign which will lead you to the square from the train station. If you arrive by plane - the closest international airport is located in Ostrava.
From there it is possible to get to Rýmařov by car, by bus or by train (for more information see above).
